Originally built by German immigrant Charles Baum, this magnificent structure opened its doors on April 1, 1885, after construction began in 1884. The Opera House followed Baum’s earlier success with his hotel, The Baum House, a venture that nearly cost him his life in 1888 when he was shot during a holdup—but survived to continue building his legacy.
With over a century of use as a theater, skating rink, gymnasium, fire truck station, dinner theater, and later, various bars and clubs (including the notorious teen club The Zoo), this building holds layers of Miamisburg history... and…
